Welcome to silvaire.com - a site dedicated to all things Luscombe.

A Luscombe is a two-seat single-engine airplane. Luscombes were made between 1938-1941, 1946-1950, and for a brief time in 1959. Luscombes were the first all metal private airplanes sold to the general public and were nicknamed 'silvaire'.

The goal of the site is mostly the history of the various Luscombes in our own family and rebuilding updates, as well as a listing of various Luscombe links.

(circa 1941) certainly proved the strength of the aircraft!

I soloed NC 1170K on my 16th birthday and received my private pilot's license right after my 17th birthday.

Finally, I am currently working with my father to rebuild my 1939 8A (NC 25165). This plane is almost completed and will be flying in the spring of 2012. As you can see from the picture below, it needed a great deal of work to get flying!

You can follow the progress of this project.
